Specific emphasis is often placed on differentiating their experiences from those of lesbian and gay individuals (with whom bisexuals are too often thoughtlessly lumped) and providing clinicians with practical information and therapeutically-relevant techniques that can be used in treating bisexual clients. Beth A. Firestein, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Loveland, Colorado. Her practice specialties include sexual orientation, gender identity, women's issues, and EMDR for trauma. Dr. Firestein's first book, Bisexuality: The Psychology and Politics of an Invisible Minority, won a Distinguished Publication Award from Division 35 of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Women in Psychology.
